ABOUT DR. TERRY DANIELS

Three Decades of Leadership. One Mission: Helping Others Lead at a Higher Level.

I’m Dr. Terry Daniels—an organizational psychologist, executive coach, leadership advisor, speaker, and former HR executive.

For more than three decades, I’ve experienced leadership from multiple perspectives: inside organizations, alongside executives, across manufacturing environments, internationally, in the community, and from the pulpit.

Those experiences have shaped a simple belief: leadership isn’t defined by a single moment. It’s shaped by the rhythm of what we repeatedly think, say, do, and model for others.

Today, I help leaders transform that rhythm so they can lead themselves, lead others, and lead their organizations at a higher level.

MY LEADERSHIP STORY

Before I Coached Leaders, I Learned What Leadership Feels Like From the Inside.

My leadership journey didn’t begin in a boardroom. It began on the manufacturing floor.

For 11 years, I worked swing shift in a high-performance manufacturing environment. I was among the first employees in an operation that eventually grew to more than 1,000 people. I experienced firsthand what leadership feels like from the employee side—when communication is clear and when it isn’t, when people feel valued and when they don’t, and how quickly a leader’s behavior can shape the rhythm of an entire team.

That experience stayed with me as my career moved into Human Resources and organizational leadership. Over the next three decades, I would support leaders and organizations across the United States and internationally, including work connected to China, Japan, Germany, France, and Spain.

Along the way, one question continued to shape my work:

What causes some leaders to bring out the best in people while others—with just as much knowledge and authority—struggle to create the same impact?

That question eventually led me deeper into organizational psychology, executive coaching, and the work I do today.

Long before I studied leadership, I experienced it.

WHERE RHYTHM CAME FROM

Leadership Became More Than Something I Did. It Became Something I Studied.

As my career progressed, I wanted to understand more deeply why people behave the way they do at work, why some leaders create environments where people thrive, and why others unintentionally create friction, disengagement, or mistrust.

That curiosity led me to earn a master’s degree in Organizational Psychology and Development and ultimately a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.

But education gave me only part of the perspective.

For more than 25 years, I have also served in pastoral leadership. Ministry taught me something organizations sometimes overlook: people don’t leave their humanity at the door when they come to work. They bring their aspirations, fears, experiences, relationships, disappointments, potential, and need for purpose with them.

Executive coaching brought these worlds together. Sitting across from leaders navigating greater responsibility, difficult decisions, strained relationships, organizational change, and personal growth helped me recognize a recurring truth:

Leadership is experienced through patterns.

How we communicate. How we listen. How we respond under pressure. How we make decisions. How we hold people accountable. How consistently our actions align with what we say.

Those patterns create a rhythm. And people experience our leadership through that rhythm.

That realization became the foundation of my work as The Rhythm Coach and the leadership approaches I use today.

SELF-AWARENESS COMES FIRST

You cannot intentionally lead others until you understand how your behaviors, reactions, and choices affect them.

WHAT I BELIEVE ABOUT LEADERSHIP

Leadership Is Experienced Before It Is Evaluated.

EVERY INTERACTION HAS A BEAT

Every conversation, decision, response, and moment of silence shapes how people experience your leadership.

CONSISTENCY BUILDS TRUST

People learn what to expect from a leader through repeated behavior. Trust grows when words and actions stay in rhythm.

LEADERSHIP MUST MOVE THROUGH OTHERS

Leadership isn't measured only by what you accomplish. It's also reflected in the capability, confidence, and ownership you develop in others.

Lead yourself. Lead others. Lead the organization. Do it with intention.

GROWTH REQUIRES INTENTIONAL RHYTHM

Lasting change rarely comes from one powerful moment. It comes from practicing better behaviors until they become the way you lead.
